Question 15

What exactly is the 24 Gute Taten Advent Calendar?

Accepted Answer

It's a charity advent calendar where every one of the 24 doors represents a real aid project around the world, funded by your donation. Past projects have included protecting 150 m² of Amazon rainforest, providing a daily school meal for a child in Nepal, and funding a holiday trip for a disadvantaged child in Germany. You choose how much to donate per project — starting from €1 — and from €24 total, you receive the beautifully designed calendar (physical or digital) as a thank-you.

Question 16

How much does the 24 Gute Taten Advent Calendar cost?

Accepted Answer

There's no fixed price — you choose your donation amount. The minimum is €1 per project (door), making the minimum total €24 for all 24 projects. From €24, you receive the physical calendar free of charge. You can also donate €2, €4, or any amount per door — every euro goes further than you might expect.

Question 17

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The 24guteTaten e.V. is officially recognized as a non-profit by the Düsseldorf Tax Authority. For donations under €300, a bank statement is sufficient for German tax purposes. You also receive an official donation receipt by email, which you can re-request at any time via the website.

Question 18

How do I receive the calendar — physical or digital?

Accepted Answer

Both options are available. The physical calendar is made from 100% recycled paper (approx. 33.2 × 22.6 cm) and is shipped from October. The digital version delivers a daily email from December 1st with the door of the day, project story, and images — zero paper, zero shipping. A hybrid option is also available: order the physical calendar and receive the digital version free alongside it.

Question 19

Can I gift the calendar to someone else?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. You can have the physical calendar shipped directly to the recipient's address. Add a personal greeting card message during checkout and it will be included with the calendar. You can also order the 24 Gute Taten Greeting Card as a standalone charitable gift for any occasion throughout the year.

Question 20

How is it verified that my donation actually reaches the projects?

Accepted Answer

Every funded organisation signs a contract specifying exactly how the donation will be used. They must submit detailed progress reports, financial receipts, and photographic evidence of project delivery. The association also publishes its full annual activity report and financial accounts — all publicly available on the website. This is what 100% transparency looks like in practice.

Question 21

Does 100% of my donation go to the projects?

Accepted Answer

75% flows directly into the charitable projects, distributed equally across all 24. The remaining 25% covers administration and calendar production — the costs required to run the selection process, verify project delivery, and produce and ship the calendar. This split is disclosed openly on the website and applies to every order.

Question 22

Who selects the 24 projects each year?

Accepted Answer

Charitable organisations worldwide apply each year (applications typically open December 6th). An independent expert panel — specialists in education, food supply, medicine, and nature conservation — reviews every application against strict criteria for sustainability, effectiveness, and transparency. Only the 24 strongest projects make it into the calendar.

Question 23

Can my non-profit organisation apply to be featured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Applications open annually on December 6th. Full eligibility criteria, the application form, and process details are available at 24-gute-taten.de/pages/projektbewerbung. You can also subscribe to the NGO newsletter to be notified as soon as the next application round opens.
