Tuesday is not a particularly nice day for Mirko, because the boy, who has leukemia, has to go back to the children's cancer day clinic at the Charité in Berlin with his father. There he has to go for a check-up due to his chemotherapy and may be given new medication. This is a difficult day of the week and the many hours pass slowly. But since a delicious breakfast buffet awaits him on site, the hours there are easier to bear. He particularly likes the breakfast roll with jam. His father is also happy because he can discuss his worries with social and psychological carers.

Every year, around 180 children in the Berlin-Brandenburg area are diagnosed with cancer. This news is a huge shock for the families. From one moment to the next, everything in their lives changes. It is not just the child with cancer who begins a difficult time; siblings and parents also suffer and are often overwhelmed by the situation. At first, they often do not know who to turn to with their questions and concerns.

Receiving concrete help in this tense situation and being able to talk to other relatives and those affected is a great relief for those affected. Conversations with trained professionals combined with good food are a small ray of hope in these difficult times.

With your donation, Kinderhilfe eV can offer a family breakfast once a week at the children's day clinic at the Charité Berlin. The family breakfast is intended to improve the situation of affected families.
